The Incident
On February 15th, our family business, The Mayflower Bakery, was dealt a devastating blow when armed criminals stole our delivery van from our driveway in the early hours of the morning. Despite reporting the theft to the police and receiving a case number (#25-0008122), we were told no further action could be taken until new developments occurred. The van was soon linked to a robbery, and with the help of our community, we discovered footage showing the criminals stalking neighborhoods in our van.
To our horror, on February 21st, we were notified that our van had been used in a high-speed police chase. The men drove our van through Montgomery and Frederick counties, evading police at speeds up to 100 mph. The driver intentionally rammed a vehicle at a red light, hospitalizing two innocent people. When we finally saw the van, we were overwhelmed with a potent mix of body odor and noxious drugs, somehow lingering after several days. Weapons and dirty blankets littered the interior of the van and gray spray paint covered our bakery’s colorful logo, symbolizing exactly what these men did to our family.
We are in the process of determining if our van is still salvageable. We just finished paying it off four months ago and our insurance has stated that it will not cover any of the damage because it was the result of vandalism. The van is vital for delivering products and transporting supplies, but instead, it was used to commit terrible crimes. In addition to the repair expenses, we must bear the burden of paying for the time the police spent investigating it at the towing site and, since it now does not run, for a towing service to our home.

El 15 de febrero, nuestro negocio familiar, The Mayflower Bakery, recibió un golpe devastador cuando criminales armados robaron nuestra camioneta de reparto de nuestra cochera en las primeras horas de la mañana. A pesar de haber denunciado el robo a la policía y recibir un número de caso (#25-0008122), nos dijeron que no se podía hacer nada más hasta que ocurrieran nuevos desarrollos. La camioneta pronto se vinculó con un robo, y con la ayuda de nuestra comunidad, descubrimos videos que mostraban a los criminales acechando vecindarios con nuestra camioneta.

Para nuestro horror, el 21 de febrero fuimos notificados de que nuestra camioneta había sido utilizada en una persecución policial a alta velocidad. Los hombres condujeron nuestra camioneta a través de los condados de Montgomery y Frederick, evadiendo a la policía a velocidades de hasta 100 mph. El conductor embistió intencionalmente un vehículo en un semáforo en rojo, hospitalizando a dos personas inocentes. Cuando finalmente vimos la camioneta, nos invadió una mezcla insoportable de olor corporal y drogas tóxicas, que de alguna manera permanecieron después de varios días. Armas y mantas sucias llenaban el interior de la camioneta, y la pintura gris cubría el logo colorido de nuestra panadería, simbolizando exactamente lo que estos hombres hicieron a nuestra familia.

Estamos en el proceso de determinar si nuestra camioneta aún se puede recuperar. La terminamos de pagar hace solo cuatro meses y nuestra aseguradora ha declarado que no cubrirá los daños porque fueron causados por vandalismo. La camioneta es vital para entregar productos y transportar suministros, pero en su lugar, fue utilizada para cometer terribles crímenes. Además de los gastos de reparación, debemos asumir el costo del tiempo que la policía pasó investigando en el sitio de remolque y, dado que ahora no funciona, también debemos pagar el servicio de remolque hasta nuestra casa.
